Speaker: Betsy Primm
The ability to read is one of the most essential skills a person can acquire. Today, we know the greatest predictors of a young child’s future success in learning to read. The remarkable thing about these predictors is that they not only can be identified but can and should be taught before a child begins to learn to read! The result is that a child can be prepared to meet and master reading before he or she ever begins to learn to decode words. This workshop will identify these gateway pre-reading skills and provide parents with examples of free, easy, fun, and effective ways to help their children become successful, confident beginning readers.
