A classroom teacher with over 25 years’ experience in grades 1 through 6, Patti Dieck currently teaches fourth grade on Long Island, NY. She is also a teacher trainer/consultant for numerous Long Island and NYC school districts where she has prepared and facilitated various Common Core Math workshops and professional development sessions to assist with the implementation of new math standards and curricula. In addition to her work with school districts, Ms. Dieck served as a writer/editor for the Common Core Exemplar Writing Project, and was also a member of the writing team for NY State’s official “math modules” curriculum “A Story of Units”. Her work as a curriculum writer has led to multiple invitations to present break-out sessions at local and national math conferences. To date Ms. Dieck has been a repeat presenter at such conferences as the Nassau County Association of Math Supervisors annual How to Make Math Count conference, the New York City Math Project annual Teaching Mathematics conference and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional and National conferences. The “Thinking Math Differently” series is Ms. Dieck’s first publication.
