As a new homeschool semester starts now is a great time to organize your homeschool curriculum Starting a new semester fresh and organized will help you finish the homeschool year strong!
Does the shape of your current homeschool curriculum have you freaked out? The first semester of homeschooling can leave you frazzled and feeling very unorganized. Now is a great time to re-organize your homeschool curriculum.
Start with the books
One of many items you probably have sitting around your house, due to homeschooling, are books. Start the reorganization of your homeschool curriculum by going through the books you have. Get rid of books you aren’t using, return library books, and organize what you own.
Restock the essentials
When you get about half-way through the school year, the essentials start to disappear. You may want to stock up on pencils, paper, folders, and so one. These are key ingredients to reorganizing your curriculum. Stress the importance of everyone caring for the essentials. If the kids aren’t putting the pencils back where they belong, it makes it really hard for everyone to stay organized.
Designate a space
You can really get your homeschool curriculum reorganized by designating a space for everyone’s school work. If you have desks for each one of your kids, great. If you do not have a desk, pick out a cabinet or grab a basket for each kid’s stuff. It’s also nice, for each child, to know where their homeschool items are. This gives you less of a headache, as you try to embrace your children being more independent with their learning. Mom needs her own space too. Don’t forget to find a space that you feel most comfortable with, for your homeschool materials, mom.
Keep at the organization
Do whatever it takes to get your kids on board with keeping the curriculum organized. After it’s been used, they should know it is their responsibility to put back. Work as a family to keep things as organized as possible. Organization takes teamwork and everyone pulling their own weight.
Get rid of the clutter
Every homeschooling has their own form of clutter. Perhaps the extra work papers have gotten stuck in the curriculum workbooks. Pull out the extra papers and throw them away. Have your kids straighten up their work area and dispose of any clutter. Your family may have to do this at least once a week, to help everything stay organized, from here on out.
Online curriculum can be organized too
When it comes to homeschoolers, who use online curriculums, you can stay organized too. Pick out an awesome planner, to help you stay organized. Put due dates and what each child is working on, in the planner. It works wonders.
