Originally from British Columbia, Canada, Mike played a number of sports growing up. As a teenager, he was involved in competitive swimming, select team soccer, and basketball. In college he played basketball at Trinity Western University and Simon Fraser University. Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada. Mike earned his Master of Education in Sports Administration from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. In 2001, Mike and his family moved to College Station, Texas for a teaching position in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University. A certified Level 1 Youth Fitness Specialist through the International Youth Conditioning Association, Mike is also a certified Developmental Coach with the United States Soccer Federation and the United States Professional Tennis Association. He is a NCCP Level II Basketball Coach. Mike is one of the owners of Family Time Fitness. Family Time Fitness is a leader in developing physical education resources for homeschool families, charter schools, and virtual schools. He is passionate about teaching people how to properly incorporate physical activity into their daily routines and has taught thousands of young people how to get fit and make regular exercise part of a healthy lifestyle. Mike lives in College Station, Texas with his wife Amy and their 4 children.
