Mikala is the Founder and Principal of The LIFE School, a progressive learning community with two programs: an in-person high school in Atlanta, GA and a virtual unschooling program for grades 7-12. At The LIFE School, students are empowered to discover and pursue their passions, grow as leaders, and engage as citizens. Mikala is an experienced educator who is committed to empowering students from all backgrounds. Over the last 7 years, she has taught middle and high school computer science, math, and engineering design courses, designed curriculum, and coached and trained teachers around the world. Prior to founding The LIFE School, Mikala also co-founded an educational technology company focused on college access. She has a B.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a M.A. in Education (Learning, Design, and Technology) from Stanford University.
