Books as Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors
Amber O’Neal Johnston
Heritage Mom

When children are unable to see themselves reflected in their schoolbooks, they fail to develop positive feelings of self-worth. And when they lack occasions to examine similarities and differences between themselves and others, they miss out on valuable opportunities for recognizing the shared humanity that binds all people together. A mirror is a story that reflects your own culture and helps build your identity, a window is a resource that offers you a view into someone else’s experience, and a sliding glass door invites you to enter another’s world. In this session, we will examine the use of all three types of books in our homes as we educate our children while embracing their individuality and honoring others.

Critical Race Race Theory and Sexualization in Public Schools
Dr. Duke Pesta
Freedom Project Academy
Room 109
Critical Race Theory is overwhelming and undermining an already compromised American
public school system. But the idea of hijacking public schools and pushing ideology at the
expense of education is nothing new. Nor is Critical Race Theory ultimately about race. In this
program, Dr. Duke outlines the socialist and anti-American origins of CRT. He draws a clear
link between the Marxist origins of CRT and the radical sexualization of public school
classrooms. In both cases, the end control, transferring responsibility for raising children to
government schools, which become the primary care-givers when it comes to kids’ education,
social welfare, values formation, sexual development, political worldview, and compelled
activism. Control of the hearts and minds of American children is a necessary precursor to the
radical transformation of our culture, with the socialist goal of undermining liberty, individuality,
and self-determination, and ushering generations of poorly educated citizens who will eagerly
reject God, patriotism, and freedom itself.

But history is anything but old when you know how to dive in and pull out the nuggets that make it relate to YOUR story. Jenny shares her research behind her eighth novel, The Declaration, the Sword, and the Spy, and how she makes the American Revolution come alive for readers of all ages. She will highlight the historical locations featured in the book: Boston, Lexington & Concord, Paris, Bunker Hill, Philadelphia, Williamsburg, and Fort Ticonderoga.
